Yes, there is the lighting. With that much natural lighting, I don’t think the lighting behind the mirror should be as bright as it is.
But what really caught my eye is the tiles on the wall. There appears to be a lack of grout in between the tiles. When tiles like that are added to a wall, the space in between the tiles is filled in with grout, so there is only a minor indentation between them. Your indentation is way too much. Also, the grouting is usually a different color than the tiles. That’s why I said it looks like no grout between the tiles.
Also, the tiles are uneven on the back wall, towards the left side, above the tall black bottle.
Thanks, I will pay more attention to artificial light in the future works.
I know about the uneven tiles, I thought it looked pretty funny, as if the builders had laid the tiles unevenly (as happened in my house)
This bathroom is probably as big as my living room.
I must be very modest because a lot of bathroom renderings have large openings to the outside… and I’m a bit embarrassed by that
Another thing that bothers me is that the toilet is much too high… or the sink very low.
I don’t know if such levitating toilets exist in reality at all, because I’ve never seen such a thing before. I can assume they have a small hole and will clog quickly.
I’ve seen them a lot in commercial spaces (offices, stores, especially restaurants) where the ability to easily clean the floor to legal standards is more important than the higher installation cost and maintenance this style of toilet requires. But they work fine (until they break), IMHO the pressurized water influx works significantly better than nothing but tank pressure.
Whether wall-mounted or floor-standing, the height of a toilet is around +400mm. The height of a washbasin is around 800mm. Using the tiles as a reference, it’s clear that there’s something wrong with your scene.
11 replies; nobody is telling him that his values CLIP.
the state of this forum; seriously; nobody notices the obvious clipping?
@OmmagattoThe problem : you have pure whites here mate; you may want to restructure the whole lighting composition; where you put your light sources and how intense they are.
Non recommended but correct fix : tinker with color management and export your scene as EXR to post production software and correct your values (Make sure to search how to export the color management settings from blender to an external post production program or the colors won’t match in both programs).
Recommended incorrect fix : instead of just playing with the light intensity number and falloff or fixing in post production; maybe try a different lighting setup? be creative about it; break realism a bit as well.
On Creativity and composition : your composition is too safe; yes; that looks like what you may expect from a bathroom; good job on that; but why would you do that?
go wild with the composition; you can hang the shampoos from the lights;
instead of 1 toothbrush, have 500 toothbrushes.
have the floor made out of towels; go crazy do some nonsense; dirty up the scene.
as for opinion on : “A place where you want to wash and poo” (your words);
Again; limited here only by imagination; i would rather have a royal bathroom in a palace than an IKEA catalog bathroom like yours; stop limiting yourself; this looks correct but soulless (Making forgettable work is a greater crime than not getting the proportions of shapes of the objects / room right).
*Also; always add some element of nature to live things up; can never go wrong with something green from nature to give some color.
*Tip; your tiles are getting dangerously close to snot-green color (on the left side of the image, desaturated yellowish green); avoid it, search online “The problem with the color green” (We are talking about yellowish green that is bad, not leaf saturated green found in nature which is good).
Given your level of aggressiveness and condescension, I think you should considerably reduce your time on the Internet and get some fresh air, try talking to people (face to face) or maybe just do a little introspection.
Not just for the people who read you, but also for your own good.
@Ommagatto to be honest I also see a problem with the scale of some elements : if the toilet seat and the bathtub are to be believed, the sink seems a little too low, somewhere around waist level. But maybe that’s how things are built where you’re from, I don’t know
Overall you’re right, having some chaos in the scene is cool, I heard in one of the guides that chaos is the key to realism.
I just don’t understand why I need to use an EXR format instead of PNG, I prefer to do everything in the Compositing tab inside Blender.
It’s more convenient, because in each render I will have the end result with post-processing.
yes but to quote a movie; you only pick one right tool for the job.
blender can do some composition / post production stuff but it is NOT a post production software.
On chaos : it still need to make sense; you can’t just put random stuff at random places. think of interesting ways to dirty up the scene.
*Silly example on creating chaos : What not to do : Throwing towels all over the place is useless and will create a composition hell; What you can do : on the other hand; a toilet made from towels might be cooler and easy to understand; or a shadow of a giant toothbrush cast on the floor; whatever crosses your mind.
*(But you also need to make sure it doesn’t steal the focus from whatever you want the viewer to focus on but ENHANCES the focus; for example; serving as a guideline for the eyes).
On scene being memorable and not soulless : you need to make sure to activate the analytical part of the brain when the observer looking at your rendering;
*You want the observer to stop for a moment and say : “hey; what’s this thing” or just follow the rule of cool and make the observer say : “Ok; that’s pretty cool”.
*Make sure your additions aren’t stupid as well; otherwise you are entering the crappy field of money laundry pretensions nonsensical scam that is “modern art”.
If the observer pretty much scrolled through your renderings instantly; that means you have failed making anything interesting; so all the quality in the world went for nothing (As nobody will actually look at it let alone remember it).
