I made a free Blender addon that generates 3D-printable keychains from text in one click

Hi everyone!

I like making personalised keychains for friends and family. The problem was: I wanted the base to follow the letter outlines instead of just sitting on a plain rectangle. Looks much better — but doing it manually took 15–25 minutes every single time.

So I built an addon that automates the whole thing.

How it works: Type your text, pick a TTF/OTF font, press one button — get a ready-to-print 3D model. The base shape is generated automatically using a metaball method that follows the letter outlines.

Features:

  • Any text, any TTF/OTF font — Cyrillic, Latin, numbers, any language
  • Smooth base shape that follows letter outlines automatically
  • Side ear with a round hole for the key ring — left or right
  • Adjustable chamfer, Y-offset, hole diameter and more
  • Shade Auto Smooth applied automatically
  • Blender 4.0+

It’s completely free. Download: https://github.com/kabser/keychain-builder-blender
