Can we have our entry in the shape of an actual bookend (e.g., like a 90 degree shape) or would you prefer something like in the yo frankie example…

Very Cool.
Questions

1-Can it be absolutely anything so long as we own it? Like cars, animals, bipeds, scenes?
2-What are the chances of the deadline getting extended? The 18th doesn’t seem to provide much time.

@bartsimpson
You can post the attach screenshots via reply option, and multiple entries are alright.

@Mutantkamel
It would be better to avoid using copyrighted stuff. There are a lot of legal issues involved in that.

@lowpolyBlender
Your designed model will be attached to a steel plate, which will actually hold the books together. The 3D printing material by itself might be not strong enough to hold the book together. Thus if you are planning on designing a 90 degree shape, please account for a steel plate.

@SEspider

  1. Yes, but we would like to avoid using copyrighted materials.
  2. Well, we can extend the deadline, just people have to let us know, they need more time :wink:

@Jeepster @RH2
Awesome entries. Looking indeed gr8 :wink:

Eyes and teeth are separate objects, but if you like it I can combine them.without a problem. Whiskers can by significantly cut, because they can be a problem. But first see if I have any chance at all. Certainly will be a lot of good work.

Well someone had to do the obvious choice for bookends. >chortles< :smiley:

I’ve not had a chance to really start on my apart from a very rough concept sketch.
But I’m positive I’ll need more time to enter seeing as most of my time is already spent.
I’ve never modeled what I plan to model before and there are a number of key components that I MUST get right. It’s going to be very low poly but with Subdivide modifier enabled on one main peace. The UV texture will help prevent large poly-count but no further modifiers will be used. Pure Blender with Low polys and details enabled through a UV texture.

Would that be okay?
If I can’t use UV textures, that’s okay. It’s not really required for the model, but it sure would help. lol

Here is my first entry. What would a bookend contest be without some gargoyles. Probably won’t have time to get a second one done.

Hello, sounds fun, but i have a question, are we going to pay the shipping costs?

Her is my submission!

  • I state that you are the sole author of the 3Dmodel
  • I give i.materialise the right to use pictures of your design ONLY for marketing purposes that’s IT! I still own the darn model :stuck_out_tongue:
