I’ve been working on a game character based off of Ico, the protagonist of the game of the same name, one of my all time favorites. I want this to be a sort of next gen reboot of the low detail Ps2 model. So far, I have him modeled and textured, but I have yet to dig into the much harder (for me, at least) task of rigging.
-the shoulders are a bit too low. If the character stands straight, the shoulders need to sit back and upwards. If the character slumps over, they need to be forward and low. In no case do they sit in the dead middle of the body.
-The feet are a bit odd. They look like stumps coming out of the pants.
-The arms need to be in a more natural position. Not only does that make the animation easier, it also makes it easier to tell if you have to the topology right. That way, you can look at yourself in the mirror and see if something is off.
-wrinkles come out of the corners of the clothing. They normally occur around the joints with the most movement. That means you need to paint them around the armpits and crotch area of the body. (also note that wrinkles can come from seams as well). The wrinkles can be as wide as you’d like them to be.

WOW that looks really good ive played this game and shadow of the collossus like 100 times
are you going to make a complete remake!? and i can help you if you get stuck
THIS IS SO AMAZING
The first thing I noticed was the unnatural pose of the character, go for something with the arms usually at a 45 degree angle and the hands turned downward with the fingers more limp. But great job on the textures.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
(not good) Rigging WIP ( I know it’s a ridiculous pose, but it was just a quick test of the joints I have finished.)
Still haven’t started on attaching the cape. Does anybody know if there’s a way to pin vertices with the softbody object type for the game engine?
