Marshal of the Carabinieri Ernesto Cabruna, serving with the 77th Squadron, flying his SPAD VII, single-handedly intercepts a group of ten Austro-Hungarian Albatros fighters escorting a bomber in the skies above Ponte di Piave.
In the battle, he shoots down the patrol leader, a red Albatros, and forces the remaining aircraft to flee.
