That thing they fixed recently causes problems with overlapping/close geometry :frowning:

Gotta rebuild the ground and hope it doesn’t result in having to do the grass all over again.

How can moon/sun be closer to the city than one of the clouds?

The same way there can be no perspective on the camera and no engine on the plane

I’m going to add a big gas pump, 1 more small building, a hot air balloon like in the original artwork and then I think I’ll finally call this one “finished”. I was going to experiment with a few different suspension bridges and sail boats and wind turbines I downloaded but I might just leave them alone.

I don’t know why the glass map marker has those black dots. I’ve got light paths for glossy and transmission cranked up. Caustics are turned on.


I might add an effect to the clouds similar to the trees:

changed:
enable light path sampling
removed world entirely
remove sunset color sun
put a faint blue sun coming from the rear in line with the moon, this makes it more night-ish.
(problem, now the grass has almost no nice shadows and is practically invisible, perhaps can use less grass now?)
increase strength of light under first ground slab
significantly increase fresnel emission on power cord but maybe not the widmill.
the “road” on the “farmland” is visible in the viewport but didn’t render for some reason.

why did sewer pipes appear to change color in Blender 4.1?
enable depth of field on camera
point light near magnifying glass handle is rendere as a sphere in 4.1 now so needs to bo moved or shrunk to stop intersecting
add faint blue world for fill light
put graffiti tag on lower corner of tablet
add light to dark corner over grass
shrink foreground car
close wireframe modifier of bridge scaffold
move bridge point lights up and make larger
limit render time to only 10 minutes
enable denoise

todo:
tweak glare in compositor
flip the image in the compositor - flip the moon object
render the array of images placed in the sky for tablet reflection, clone out the seam visible on the top middle part of reflection.
trees might need a slight fresnel emission and/or individual lighting, might as well make them individual objects and use linked lighting.
try linked lighting on the grassy areas outside that are too dark
make the hot air baloon from the original illustration that I keep forgetting.
remodel tail of plane

put shingle bump map on house roofs
put park bench next to outside map marker
put stylized water texture on lake and pool instead glossy reflective material
make or find oldschool gas pump with some chrome
