Image Texture as Base Color not working


I am having an issue with applying image textures as base color, specifically in the cycles render engine. It works in all other modes and engines (works in eevee and material preview) it just doesn’t work in cycles. When I try to apply an image texture to the base color, it appears pink. If I use an image texture for another property (like roughness or normal) those work just fine. I have also tried reinstalling Blender twice, but to no avail. I am using Blender 2.82a on macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

Very strange. Care to share the texture? Does it work in a new project on its own? Does it work if you re-save it, possibly to a different format?
