I’m trying to get some information from a database.
I can test pyodbc 3.0.2 from a python script successfully but when I to use it in Blender 2.62
I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error.
Here is an snippet that will generate the error;
#/***********************/
import sys
sys.path.append(‘C:\Python32\Lib\site-packages’)
import pyodbc
#/**********************/
I’ve tried building the driver on the same box but I still get the same error.
If anyone has overcome this I would certainly appreciate the knowledge!

OK, thanks! This is hugely frustrating. I’ve build both pyodbc and Blender and still get either that error popup with the “Runtime C Error”. I’ll check the docs on the manifest, I actuall think I might have to add it because I thought that used to be a separate step that may not be in setup.py when I build.
I’m going to keep at it though because I wand Blender to be able to connect to all the databases I use without having to load a separate module for each.

After reviewing the write up here; http://code.google.com/p/pyodbc/issues/detail?id=214, I realized that although I had Visual Studio installed I was missing mt.exe so I pulled it down from here; http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/aa904949
And then, in the directory of pyodbc, I executed the following all on one line;
C:"\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs"\Windows\v7.1\Bin\mt.exe -inputresource:c:\Blender\Python32.dll;#2 -outputresource:pyodbc.pyd;#2
After that the following (for a test) FINALLY worked;
import sys
sys.path.append(‘C:\Python32\Lib\site-packages’)
import pyodbc
con=pyodbc.connect(‘DSN=Mysql’)
cur=con.cursor()
rows=cur.execute(‘Select * From WOB.ProductNames’)

Ah, good to know that it works this way, too. I can’t say I really understand how manifests work in this very specialized case and I don’t know which solution (no manifest or referring to the dll) works in the largest amount of cases.

Runtime error r6034 can damage your system files so it is very necessary to fix it. Follow the given below steps to fix this error:-
When you receive this error in your system screen then restart your computer.
Press F8 before the windows logo appears.
Then select safe mode then press enter.

You can restore your system by the following steps:

Start your system and then log on as an administrator.

Click on the start and then select all programs, accessories, system tools and then press on system restore.

Now new windows appear, choose option “restore my computer to an earlier time” and then click next.

Select the most recent system restore point from the “on this list, click restore point” and then click next.

click next on the confirmation windows.

Finally, reboot your system when the restoration is complete.

If you are getting C++ library runtime error r6034 then it became compulsory for you to fix runtime error otherwise it may damage windows and system freeze also. This error occurs due to missing system files and windows driver so update windows and use latest and new windows driver. Scan the system to remove malicious programs from the system if they are injected because sometime they are the cause of runtime error r6034. They corrupt or damage the system files or move them from their location.
