import .shp (shape) file?

I’d like to know if there is .py script available to import ArcView .shp files (so called “shape” files), a GIS vector data format. Alternately, if there is a (free…:slight_smile: ) conversion out there from .shp to any of the formats Blender can import. DEM format is OK too, since I can use Cambo’s script to convert the points.

I found this thread: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21293&highlight=Arcview, but could not find the script mentioned.

I also found a converter to .dxf on the web (Arc2CAD), but it isn’t free, and I’d rather go directly into Blender anyway.
