Importing PNG image imports with black background

Hi Everyone!

Just running into a simple error where importing a PNG image (exported from Photoshop with transparency) when imported as a Mesh Plane ( image texture has color into the base color of bsdf and the alpha output from the image texture into the input alpha of the bsdf) but still shows black background where it’s supposed to be transparent in Cycles!

What could I be overlooking?
Thanks

Attached Images from solid mode and then the rendered mode.

Hi there,
I have had this issue before, I will take a look at it when I am at my PC.

Thank you! I’ve honestly spent like two hours scouring YT and Reddit threads to my fail. Either I’m doing something wrong or there’s something I’m missing out, I even put my blender to factory default settings and nothing changed so I’m at a loss here :sob:

Hum, weird, did you tried in a fresh new scene ? it’s a bit different from factory settings…

Create a new scenes , given you didn’t changed the rendering parameters in your default scene. Then add that plane and see if there is a difference.

Could be worth sharing a blend with the image packed so we can look closer !

Check your transparency bounces in the Cycles lighting settings- looks like it is set to 0

I did try to download a brand new version of Blender like 5.0 instead but I’m gonna try a new scene altogether thank you! I’ll upload a blend file in here if that doesn’t work!

Joseph, you genius! If I could send you a virtual hug, I would! That worked!! :exploding_head:
Thank you, it was set to 1 and i just reset to the default value of 12.

Thank you so much again!!
