My models in blender, are in my opinion, terrible. i am making an fps game in unity and i model the guns in blender, but they always seem to lack detail or any sense of realism, they always seem cartoonish. can anyone help or provide some tips?
I hate both hate to say this and love to say it. It takes lots of practice and experimentation. I hate to say this because it’s a long uphill battle. I love to say this because that climb is a rather fun one.
Without seeing anything you’ve done, specifics are hard to specify. Why not post some of your work?
embarrisment :), i will shortly. i lost a lot of the guns, but i should make some more shortly.also what is the difference between uv texturing and normal texturing, like using the color options on blender.
UV Texturing works by mapping out the faces from an object into a flat 2D space. This is usually saved as an image and taken into an application like Photoshop to paint a texture.
Those color options in blender are actually Material or Shader settings. Most textures, bump maps, normal maps, etc. created this way are whats known as procedurally generated. They are generated by the computer rather than by hand.
Both have their uses. In fact UV texturing is actually just one of the many options available to you when using blender Materials. More often than not you’ll combine procedurally generated content and UV textures.
alright. as soon as i get a nice model of a gun (which sadly i have a close deadline to make) i will post it.
