Improving topology

I am really struggling to create quality looking topology, especially for this mesh which is pretty different from a lot of the examples I’ve seen.

Ok I tried making a drawing of an example topology for your model if this is gonna use subdivision… The blue area means that needs more loops and adjust the curvature…

Is there a way to clean this up? It looks messy, I just used grid fill.

Ok, taking a couple steps back, to where you were in the 2nd image.

You have the right idea that you need more of a grid, but doing the auto-grid fill is going to give you far more faces than needed at this point. It’s going to be too hard to manage, and not necessary.

You also have more points than needed, I’ve X’ed some out to demonstrate where they might can be deleted.

So. Basically, I would start with a cube. Shape it basically in the correct form, then start inserting loops and adjusting the shape. I wouldn’t start with the actual profile of the grip.

Rough mockup of how i’d start to create and shape the edge loops. Then add a subD modifier, and start marking some edges as creasing if needed.

HTH, good luck -
