in depth weight painting?

i think it is very annoying and problematic that you can’t paint through visible faces -
is that really impossible? in the tutorials i read so far they always say switch to back/front view and repeat to paint the same vertex areas - which increases the error possibility.
in 3dmax i had something like z-buffer mode where you can switch between affecting only visible vertices and also invisible together - is there something similiar in blender?

While I’m certain you can only paint faces facing you in Weight Paint mode, you
could just take a short stroke on that bone, go into Edit mode and hit B twice to select faces right through, and assign them to that bone. It doesn’t give you the option to finesse it, but its a start.
