They’re pretty late at mentioning this, but DeviantART posted a news item on a “new version” of Blender.

I’ve read DeviantART’s previous archives on Blender, and the artists there seem to shy away from it because of its interface. Most of them support the other 3D packages (particularly 3D Studio Max, I think).
