Individual Extrude issue

I created an Icosphere and switch to face select

Selected all the faces and clicked Extrude Individual faces on Tool Panel

When I moved the mouse, some faces extruded outwards and some inwards

What the hell is this?

Looks like all the normals aren’t set as expected for added mesh. Try Mesh>Normals>Recaclulate Outside (Ctrl-N). Then extrude.

You have a problem with the normals.
Try this:
First select ALL faces and press ctrl+n
then try extruding.
It should work.
