Hello , im new to blender, im trying to learn it after 1-2 years in 3ds max. It goes quite good, i feel good with it and i like it. Except keymaps ofc, i prefer 3ds max workflow with what industry compatible keymap lets me to do. But i have some problems. Some keys dont work properly. Like i cant find in keymap preferences shortcut for what was before “shift A” which was allowing me to add cube/lights other things, etc. I scrolled all the options and i was not able to find it anywhere.
But bigger problem is with selecting edge vertcies and face’s in the UV editor. In edit mode in 3d view it works perfectly. But i cant find options to select an edge withing 2d view image. I need to click on 3d view , change editing mode to which i want and then go back to 2d view and tweak it if i want. But if i click on 2d view and press 2/1/3 nothing happens. Except going back and forth from edit mode to object mode. But it wont let me to choose edge or face selection, only vertecies view, from default.
I ve spend more than an hour in preverences menu trying to solve it. I ve mapped some keys that should be responsible for that action, they didint work even when i switched off every single keymap for 1/2/3 buttons except these ones.
Nothing worked. I give up then and i come to ask for help.
I think these blender shortcuts are cool, very good. But what appealing me in this industry compatible is that my gizmo changes in the same way like in the 3ds max. I press W (my move keymap) and my gizmo becomes gizmo for only moving object. Same on scale and rotate. When i had gizmo and i was on blender UI there was 1 gizmo and it was containing both scale,move and rotate, which was not that very smooth in use. Also i press 1 and it goes straight to vertex mode - without need to go into edit mode with TAB button.
So the best solution would be for me that if i could work with blender UI but with industry standard gizmo version workflow. But i guess that not available option for now. I guess.
Or maybe unless u guys can help me to solve this issue with edge/face/vertex selection in the UV editor.
Or maybe i will go back to blender UI version and i will get used to this gizmo workflow
