Uhhhmm… what is is again? I mean I can see gestural drawing as being a technique for laying out an image, but fur a finished project? Really?

Maybe it is a child between 15-17 and you are acting selfish ?

Good drawing boy! Keep trying!

well, you should keep trying, but besides the circle there is no resemblance to a skull whatsoever…

try tracing a skull first…

Seems to me that you’re the one looking down on kids of that age…15-17 year olds can be extremely talented you know.

Honesty is the best policy, and this looks nothing like a skull.

15-17 old kids will draw something identical in INKSCAPE

“Skull made in inkscape in about 10 minutes”

it does not say has been drawing it with his hand.

Inkscape it is not paper and pen!

Hmmmm… guess who falls in the age range of 15-17? I do, and actually I fall in the 15 part of that range. I’ve never used inkscape in my life but guess who you won’t find doing gestural drawings and posting them in a section of the forum other than the WIP section?

That was by no means a good drawing, but the keep trying part was right on. As for me being selfish, well to be honest, I don’t understand where that’s coming from at all

Okay… well… thanks for the comments.

First off, I posted this in the “traditional” part of the forum because it is not 3d and the first page of blender artists, the subtitle to this part of the forum is
“For all your non-3D and Traditional artwork here.” Since this is NOT 3d, I decided to post here.

This is a test of an inkscape SVN nightly build feature, and NO, it’s not a “finished project.”
Like I said earlier, I only put in “about 10 minutes.” I would have spent longer on it but Inkscape crashed. –>Most of my"finished projects" take at least an hour .

Ad hominem arguments in a forum or any social setting are insulting. Refrain from using that form arguing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

Have you ever seen a Rorschach test? These are commonly interpreted differently by many people.
This, in essence is a form of that kind of test. Some of you “see” it (or part of it) and some of you don’t. To help, Here is a comparison to a skull:
/uploads/default/original/3X/f/9/f9f0e195f1a77045e89dbab97db9db6019a51a46.jpgstc=1&d=1237875304

  • it’s highly abstract, and can be interpreted in different ways.
Also, I could have called it something bland but where would be the fun in calling it “Inkscape Test” ?Naming it is part of the fun  .

Art is the expression of the artist, and makes a bold statement. I’m glad there’s controversy over this art (or “art”) -it’s quite interesting to see how people react to it.

Thanks for taking time to comment and suggest that it’s not art and not a “skull”. I dislike is the obtrusive argument fallicies that throw the thread way off topic but, other than those fallicies, I welcome criticism. Thanks for the comments :).

In a Rorschach test they don’t tell you what you are supposed to see

Hey I clicked your photo-link the images are awesome!

Regarding your skull, I do agree that for something you did in ten minutes . … . well maybe this sketch isn’t quite that artistic. I could be wrong though as in anything from 2 sec’s to two hundred years some academic would look at it and declare it a work of genius and everyday Tom, Dick and Harry would raise controversy and say it is not!

However I am a firm believer that no matter what you do, if you decide that the work should be viewed by many, then it should it be up!

I am reading a book called “How to see art” or something rather . . . and this book has opened my mind to what you call “art”. Still on chapter 3 . . . many more to go, and by no means will I be an expert in artistic interpretation, but yeah, I think you are an artiste with your previous and completed images, but not with with skull sketch.

Have a great day!

I thought it looked a lot like a skull, nice gestural.

I admittedly didn’t see a skull but I did see a funny man with a big round head and a little beard.
