Hey guys!
I stumbled upon a situation in which the Bevel modifier and tool are giving me strange results.
When I try to bevel a flat piece of geometry to produce a nice curve the inner edges get messed up.
When the edge I try to bevel is lifted and creates an angle the problem disappears.
Unfortunately my geometry is more complicated then the example I provide here.
Do you think it’s a bug?
Maybe someone knows a fix for it?
That’s a good catch, never noticed that. Can confirm. @howardt do you mind if I tag you ? is this a known issue ? I can’t seem to make it disappear by tweaking any of the bevel parameters.
Please report this as a bug. I will try to find time to look at it.
I suspect, because it is not uniform where this happens, that it is one of the floating point “fuzz” tolerance tests (that are needed for various reasons) kicking in sometimes but not others.
As some people are aware, I have a “Bevel v2” project that will is a complete rewrite of Bevel, but it has been on pause for quite a while, while I have been diverted to make Boolean much faster/better.
Please do it, you’re more familiar with the circumstances and this way you’ll know how to do it. Prepare a file that demonstrates the issue and click “report a bug” under the Help menu at the top-left.
@howardt thanks, it did look like an edge case handling…
Thanks for the idea @Okidoki
Unfortunately that does not work for me as 2 degree is too much in my case.
I managed to fix the model I was creating, but still, it would be nice to have it fixed
