First of all, how to create an equation-free 3-D vector field in blender? I understand that it’s not possible to list everything in a single answer, but if someone can guide me in the right direction, it would be highly helpful.
Something like this,
there are addon to create 3D models from Math equations
but to create a vector field that is not possible yet!
you might try to write a complicated addon to do it for one specific field type
to show small arrows along paths is another story!

I saw some magnetic field line in 3D
but not with small arrows all around
I think you need some other soft made to work with vectors field
unless you got some sort of algo to make these little arrows
I don’t see a way to do this!
but may be someone else has seen something !

I ckeck some old notes
and there was some addon to help make vector field
but have not tested it and may not work in latest blender
but check these out

Alright, so I created a quick smoke+fire and with the add-on I generated a VF_Volume without gravity. On the object I’ve created the quick smoke on, you need to add a Physics Force Field>Type: Smoke Flow>Shape: Surface>Domain Object: Smoke Domain. By now you should already be able to see the VF_Volume move along with your smoke. You can increase the Force Fields strength and flow to get a better looking result.
I have to say that I have trouble with exporting the FGA, if I add the FGA to a part…

sorry don’t have much time right now to experiment with these
if you find a way let us know
seem interesting
