Is there a way for Geometry Nodes with Join Geometry to preserve vertex groups?

From what I can tell, once an object is modified by a geometry node with Join Geometry, it’ll convert all vertex groups into an attribute. This prevents the object from any further interaction that uses vertex groups such as modifiers. Essentially, you can’t use Armature modifier for rigging after. Is there a way around this or is this limitation?
