I use the built in asset browser for looking at my stash of materials.
Its OK, but a lot of thumbnails are missing.
Its possible to recreate these thumbnails one by one, sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn’t. This is time consuming since I have lots of materials.
Is there an addon or something else that is an alternative to Asset Browser for materials?
Have you tried to open the asset blend file and then File > Data Previews >Refresh Data-Block Previews ?
I tried opening the blend file and File > Data Previews >Refresh Data-Block Previews, but no change. I also refreshed asset library as well.
I can get the thumbnails to come by changing the type of icon from sphere to something else then back again, but thats very time consuming and slow.
There was a reported issue with 4.1.1 with the thumbnails taking forever to load. I think it was supposed to be resolved in 4.2 but haven’t checked if it was marked as resolved. I use the true assets add-on to automate some of my assets library creation including the thumbnails but I’m sure there are free solutions.
I’m currently developing an addon called BatchGenie that can batch render Assets(materials, collections, objects you name it) directly in the Asset Browser with tons of customization. Its currently in its final phase and should be released at the end of the month~.
