Is there an ascending spiral path for a particle out there or an easy way to make one

I’m following the Tutorial: Light Streaks in Blender (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZudmvS8DJU)
and I would like to make the streak (the particle) go upwards in a spiral. Is there a path
out there for this or if not, how would I make one?

To make a spiral enable the ‘Curve Extra Objects’ addon that comes with blender
