Is this a bug in 2.8?

I wanted to get some opinions before submitting this as a bug report to the devs.

We have a small renderfarm that is managed by Smedge. The rendering slaves are Linux and Mac, all with at least 16GB RAM, and some of the Macs have GPUs.

Currently I’m having two issues: The first is that the Linux machines won’t render on the farm with a Blender 2.8 project. 2.79 does just fine. I need to explore this more to figure out if it’s Smedge or Blender.

The bigger issue however is that when I submitted a 2.8 project with a smoke sim, the renders were coming out completely botched. If I launch Blender manually on the machines, open the project and hit F12, it rendered fine. This is with the GPU setting enabled. If I set it to render only on the CPU and resubmit the project, everything renders just fine on the farm. I should add that there’s no render passes or anything like that. And theres no multiple layers or any of that either. It’s one scene, one layer.

Be sure to be trying the latest 2.80 builds, as there have been changes to sim stuff in the last few days, though nothing I see that’s description jumps out as possibly explaining what you’re seeing.

I usually update every Monday, so we’ll see if it’s something that’s been fixed this week. I just didn’t want to waste the devs time if it’s really not a bug. If it’s still there after Monday, I’ll submit it
