Is this feature I made as interesting as I think it is?

I have kind of a weird question. I’m prepping a particle/FX system I’ve been building for sale that’s built around stylized animation, and I’ve got a feature I’m really proud of. I’ve built it so that you can switch the simulation over to stepped animation, basically letting the simulation run on ones or twos or threes or whatever at-will. You can even keyframe the step level to change live if that’s something you want to do.

I did a little bit of digging on other people’s physics or FX sims and I didn’t see anyone else doing this. I guess my question is whether or not this feature is as interesting or significant as I think it is? It feels like a big deal to me because it solves a problem I’ve had on other productions (rendering out our FX sims on twos was something we had to do in compositing and it was a huge headache), and if I’m right it’s something no one else has going. I wouldn’t mind someone else’s input though before I start putting an ad together and make too big a deal out of it just because there’s something I’m not aware of.

It certainly sounds interesting. I don’t have a lot of experience with using particle effects myself, but you make a good point about how rendering it separately would be annoying. This would be helpful for projects that have variable framerates, I think. Normally people would just set their whole file to work in 12 fps, but especially lately with people being more interested in mixed media works (Spiderverse), this would make it easier for those who want to be more selective about where and how they change the framerate.

So, overall, it seems like a fairly specific but helpful feature! Many people might not get it, but those who need it would be rather excited, I imagine.
