Isometric strategy game city renders

The following are ten of my Blender-created city sets, for the game Civilization III

Five ancient-era sets (Greek, Persian, Mayan, Chinese, Celtic)

Five medieval-era sets (Byzantine, French, Arabian, Japanese, Aztec)

Blender is really awesome for such graphics… A really incredible and versatile program (ever since it got a user-friendly interface  )

Very cool, I particularly like the Japanese style ones.

Thank you!

Isomeric game assets are still on my todo list. Any hints on the render setup to ensure that different models are rendered in the same angle and the same proportional size?

Standard isometric setup files should be available, afaik! In the past I was using a custom-made set-up for CivIII, but probably you will get the same effect if you open a new Blender file, then choose Camera AND orthographic perspective

Unless I am mistaken, these cities just use that setting. Rendering is done in Cycles, with usually around a 600 level of samples (routine render; not preview+samples).

The size of the whole image is roughly that you see in each of the 5 set pics here, but you can use different levels for the render, and experiment… I try to render as many sets in the same file as I can, and keep them there.

this is an amazing work, man
you must really sent some time gathering resorses for the designs,
what is the actually size of each one of these areas ?

Thanks

Yes, I did have to use authentic/real buildings as inspiration!

What do you mean by “actual size” of areas?

i mean how big are thy are in blender world, are thy the size of suzane ? or bigger which means that ther are lots of detals that we just cant see in thim ?

Only a few of the models are detailed! For example the Byzantine monuments: The Hagia Sophia and two other cathedrals/churches.

Eg, here is a render of the Hagia Sophia:

And a look at the model (with info on it)

It would make no sense to make all the models detailed, when the plan was to render them as CivIII cities

your right about that,
its what i would do if i were at your shoes,
but this model is so much great , amazig

if you dont mind, you can creat a Separated , buillding objects , like windows , sunshade extra building parts , and use thim to bulid more variations,by adding tim to original bulding , if your ever going to make even more of this project

but i think this is more than enugh

I have a thread (tutorial) on how to construct various Byzantine forms

It is at Byzantine forms tutorial (series)

@KyriakosCH Really nice work on the cities! I’m no historian, but think the cultural distinctions are very well done.
I hope you don’t mind me adding a photo of the Hagia Sophia’s impressive interior to this thread:
