I’ve been wanting to do this idea for a while now but have always put it off cause i didn’t really have a direction for it but finally i found a use for it and here it is a city scene. the city is gonna be the background for the actual project. Started on the compositing early to get the angles right. On an unrelated note is it just me or do models look better when they don’t have any texture or colour on them
Looks good.
The first floor shops may need more details like windows and doors (the ones you do have are very high). Also there are normaly four traffic signal poles instead of two. I hope that helps.
nice! i like where you put the monkey head:eyebrowlift:
OHMAIGOSH. i suggest a colorful cartoon style, dont go for realism. if you want to know what i mean i guess you could look at some of the threads in my sig (not trying to attract attention to them, just giving an example).
@UV5000 thanks yeah i’m adding more detailing. yeah some of the windows need to be scalled down. and i am gonna add more traffic lights i was just testing something out with the second one. once i finish modelling and texturing the first i’ll just duplicate
@John A.M. yeah i always try to find a way to add suzanne into my blender works!
@Bojo600 Sorry to dissapoint you but the image i’ve got in my mind is leaning towards realistic
Its all about mood The white gives it a sort of enigmatic yet professional look, like sort of a boldness that isn’t present with other colors. As for better, that’s up to the scene
true i can see what you mean. i guess i like how clean everything appears when there are no textures
latest render been working on the materials some still need tweeking and others arent final but i’m happy with how its going so far

actually, although yes needs some tweaking, that’s the “cartoon” colorful look i had in mind, good job
I like the progress.
The dof is a bit strong though.
@bojo600 ah ok cool thanks i thought you wanted a sort of toon shaded look to it
@UV 5000 thanks yeah looks that way now coz i’m working on other things in the scene that are hidden hopefully it’ll all come together when its finished
oh yeah, strong dof will make everything look smaller, so if you want that huge city look, keep lots of stuff in focus, good luck!
added steam rising from grate
turned down the dof
Now on to the weather
Without reactor particles it will be harder to water splashes any ideas on a way around that?

(sorry i haven’t commented.:o) hmm… maybe try adding a small clouds textureto the sidewalk and rode, with Normal on so it looks like little “splashes” from the water? i don’t know.
Very nice scene and a wonderful camera placement. But if you going for realism i would suggest to look into the scale on the building floors and windows. And also turn on the lights in the lamp posts and traffic signals.
