…my question is: is it a good idea to go through recruitment agencies? I’ve never actually had any experience with them before. 
I would try my best to avoid them.
They don’t provide any kind of service that simplifies the overall process for the potential candidate. They’re just a “middleman” who stacks resumes in order to manufacture value, so they can show interested employers “look at all these highly skilled people we own, use us to staff up”.
In essence, a front-end for unstable companies who are looking to outsource everything they possibly can, including the HR department (which is why they’re forced to use a recruiting agency in the first place).

Well, it kind of fell through anyway, as they were looking for someone in the UK, and I can’t leave the states right now because of all sorts of family responsibilities and other such stuff. They said they’d keep me on file, though, in the future.
I’m not thrilled with the idea of a recruitment agency, but I’ll keep it just the same just in case I’m starving and need some bread. =D On the plus side, 3D art is actually supporting me right now, I can’t believe it!
