Jim - Original Character Portrait

Hi all,

This is the 4th finished piece in my portrait series I’m slowly working on, as I bring to life some characters from the book I’m writing.

This one intimidated me quite a bit before hand, but actually came together with surprisingly little effort. It just…worked? I also think I took an unexpected step towards realism with this one, and I honestly have no idea how I did it, as nothing in my workflow really changed.

All done in Blender, with the exception of texturing which as usual, was done in Substance.

I hope you like him!

I did use a real life actor as ‘inspiration’ for this one. I wasn’t interested in making it look like them, more using it for basic forms and proportions. But I do see little hints of him, so 10 points to Gryffindor if you can get it right.

That skin tone looks really nice; it can be a challenge to do darker skin and keep the light levels working. Great job on that.

Thanks! Yeah it was what worried me the most, but thankfully, it sorta worked, so
