Just me following the Joan of Arc tutorial.

Here’s what I got so far.

Update:

Just some armour.
I could probably do better… but, I’m just going to go over this and see what I learn. I’m not going to sweat the details until I learn the basics more thoroughly.

Classic tutorial and great start.

I also made an estoc. Kindof cool because estocs were actually used in France.

Did gloves and shoulder pads.

I like how she is clothed everywhere but the waist area:eyebrowlift::yes: lol sry but i just had to say it. AAAnyways…

The model imo looks a bit off human proportions, i am not an expert on this so i cant help you there, but you might want to double check.

But yeah cool gear and accessories(is the sword too big for her? can she really lift that?).

Yes, your right, the model isn’t anatomically correct, but it wasn’t meant to be. But, even if it were meant to, I’m not that skilled yet to make it so.

The sword is actually about 2.5 pounds or 1kg. The thing is that she is from 1412, so she’s short, about 4 feet 5 (1.3 meters) or so, and the sword is enormous, at about 4 feet 2 inches (1.27 meters) tall. Hollywood and Animewood make western swords look unwieldy, when they are pretty much as good as any other.

Hey, here’s a site that I used for reference.

Added clothes and skin material and a material for the ground. They are placeholder materials until I get to that point.

MODELING DONE!
Yeah!

Now the materials and textures are up next. Lighting will be changed and edited around whenever I feel it needs done. Final lighting setup to be done as one of last few steps.

Great work! Keep going!

good work, and check any human photo with the waist area -weird proportions- it needs some mod., and are u going to do the hair???

Ah, the good old (literally) Joan of Arc tutorial. Exactly 10 years old this year and still considered to be one of the best for beginners.

Only thing I can think of is that the hair looks pretty bad right now (I know that it’s probably just a placeholder for now though)

Great job

the hair line is WAY too high i think. everything else looks awesome!

Started to texture. This is my sword. Will start working on the materials.

The material I’m working on now is the blade. Also added glare to the final and spec pass.

nice, this is pretty cool! what do you plan on making with her? animation? wallpaper? game? i could do with a new wallpaper

I’ll use her for animation practice, but for renders, I’ll probibly just put her in my castle render:

I could make it a wall paper. That would be easy enough.

What I’m working on right now is the golden trim. What I’m trying to make it is just a metal that has gold paint on it. But, something seems off.

What I want is advise or ideas. Just remember I’m just doing this for fun, so it doesn’t have to be absolutely beautiful. I just want it to be a bit more realistic. Just a bit.

the gold trim should be more specular, and with a harder spec too… gold is generally very shiny

I could make it a wall paper. That would be easy enough.

^^like

Materials have been worked on. I’ll let it be for now. Go to something else, and come back if I think I need it.
