an environment of our game is a house, so we thought it would be nice to take it apart and render some of the more interesting rooms

could you bake the pants onto a plane, as a normal map, is that good performance - -
we didn’t use normal maps, because its a mobile game and we needed every bit of performance we could get, but its an interesting idea and if we used normal maps, we would probably did it that way
so, could you make a flat image, with transparent around the clothes, and just place them like planes - -?
yea we could, but that wouldn’t look good, and the problem with mobile is not polycount (it is, but not to that extend that 100 or so polys of that short would save us). The problem are drawcalls, and all of the environment in our game has about 30 drawcalls, because ecery room is a single mesh. Another reason is that we have static baked lightning and “actual mesh pants” make it look better
