Well hello there Blender Community!
Think this is my first post and just needing a bit of Advice on modelling the rails of the attached picture, I have an idea of how I would do it, but I am sure there is more knowledgeable people that could think of better ways 
Any help would be much appreciated!

A combination of curves and mesh modelling I would think. to get depth to a curve, you can use the bevel object function, or just adjust the curve settings as follows: increase the ‘depth’ setting. change ‘fill’ option from ‘half’ to ‘full’.
Thanks for the reply Modron. Thats the way I was going to do it! Thought maybe there would have been an ‘easier’ way. So I best get to it!
