Just starting off

Well, not seeing a newbie board section I figured I’d post here :P. Anyways this sort of marks the start of me using blender. So if anyone has any good tutorials for mainly modeling that’d be appreciated. So far after a half a week or so I think I’m leaning towards still scenes rather than animations. Soooo Hello Blender Artists (or at least ones on the off topic section lol)

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay as there are many people who can help you increase your Blender potential.

Thanks. Uh do you think i should post something I’m working on in the work in progess thing. I mean I’ve only been using blender for a week now so it won’t be that good at all.

Ah not good at all? You think all magician’s pulled a rabbit out of the hat on their first try? Who knows? Either way we all got to start somewhere. We all have our own pace, styles, and that’s what makes everything about this unique. I’ve seen some very good first timers. Feel free to post in the work in progress thread, and show us what you got. Expect criticism, but use it to your advantage. I look forward to your work.

Very true. So far it’s been a joy playing with blender. Since I don’t have a job and only go to school I have time to do this. Also I posted my work so far in the work in progress section. Tell me what i should improve on if you have the time. Thanks

Welcome on Board from me too!

Welcome Bourreau,

As others have mentioned, don’t worry if your initial work isn’t that flash. It often serves as a useful motivating tool when you look back in a month or two and compare your progress.

In regards to tutorials, apart from some basic interface ones (like from the manual or the Noob to pro wikibook) I’ve never found doing random tutorials to be particularly helpful to my progress in the early stages. You’re generally better off picking something you want to make and then trying it out. When you get stuck, look up a specific tutorial and go from there.

Yea that’s what I’ve been doing mainly like grass and learning about random modifiers. Thanks for the warm welcomes also! So far these forums are pretty welcoming and constructive.

Welcome. And just remember…If you can’t take the heat, don’t tickle the dragon!

You just tickled him!

But I can take the heat. I have walked on the surface of the sun.

He didn’t. playfully nips and bites Zanos all over his body, then bites him a little harder

That sounds so gay. One of my friends is into that. You want me to hook you up?

Such a thing cannot be done unless I somehow regain my Dragon form, it makes a lot more sense to do it if I was back in my Dragon form:yes:

Tickle Tickle

Welcome Bourreau!

murrs, then growls gently

Hehe.

murrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That is so gay, two guys having internet sex pretending they are dragons haha. Welcome french man. Btw Cyborg Dragon, isn’t it time to model a better looking dragon for the avatar soon :stuck_out_tongue:

That was a good one.

The tongue does look out of perspective, and has for many many years.

I’m the Dragon here, and last I heard Zanos still has a human soul (despite what he may believe about souls).

I have the feeling I exchanged Dragon licking and gentle/playful Dragon biting/chewing with my Dragon parents which would’ve been perhaps more than several-hundred years back, so definately not something new here, nor is it a new thing to let dogs do that to me like them licking the inside of my mouth, and I once tried to get a young boy to lick me when I was a kid at a fast-food joint playplace (he didn’t)

Wait…

Genital biting/chewing on your parents and your dog?
