@sundialsvc4 - That sub might have been mine. I did a cut-away Type VII U-boat a little while ago.
@RickyBlender - the radios are low res because I’m still blocking out things. Once I get all the parts basically built, I’ll start texturing them. They’ll look a lot better then.
When you look at, via cut-aways, how these weapons systems were constructed, you marvel at how they were ever able to produce them in quantity … and why any soldier or sailor ever dared to crawl inside.
Whoa, the Tiger II had shock absorbers inside the crew compartment? I had no idea, I’ve somehow never seen them before.
Looks great, the brass textures on the shell casings are really nice.
When working on a vehicle like this, do you use a non-destructive workflow, or generally booleans, bevels and edge loops? Like on the engine grills, my first instinct would be to use booleans.
@Chickenbutt_McWatson
I had forgotten about this project. I should probably get back to it. I think I was getting cross-eyed running hydraulic lines and decided to take a break. 3 years is quite a break!
I use booleans to create the cut-away effect. That lets me cut the model any way I want for different renders.
@sacboi
Welds will be a combination of bump/normal maps and probably some actual geometry for some of the bigger more prominent welds.
Thanks for reminding me about this project. I’ll start working on it again.
