Knife Project a grid onto an NGON

I’m trying to knife project a grid onto an NGON to breakup the single face into a grid pattern but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Select the grid first, then your NGON, go edit mode.
I guess you are missing that you need the right view. Look from top so you see the grid on the ngon, then use knive project.
