Kokeshi japanese dolls dedicated to my daughters.
Simple project, nothing special really… I think it was a good idea to try something different than my science-fiction stuff… because you know, girls and robots…! And well, that was not that easy finally… Especially the colors and the patterns. Dolls are naturally not my strong suite! Modeling wasn’t hard, shading was funny (layers from bottom to top : wood, painting, laquer/varnish)… The painting with my poor/noob painting skills … Plus, I had to change several time the colors/patterns of the red doll to satisfy my daughter !
It was made under Blender 2.8 : bit of practice here too. Getting use to the GUI and the shorcuts. It’s a great update, epic update actually. Thank you Blender devs ! EEVEE was really useful to fine tune the shaders. I even used the other “Workbench” rendering engine to quickly make the wireframe renders.
Question of taste : with some variation on colors… “retro” effect, kind of :
Wireframe made with Workbench render and Wireframe modifier : (1sec render)
Viewport with EEVEE… how cool is that ?
