Lamborghini Aventador

your doing fine, except your mistaking critisism for advice, and from what i have read so far the only critic you should be paying attention to is Writers block! i havnt seen much of the others work that would make me think they were in any position to critisise!

set up your scene how you see it in your head and then consider the advice given and decide which will help make your idea come to life. F*(K the rest! don’t let naysayers take your work away from you with their negative attitude!

I am using AO.

Well, the black one was how I set it up in my head, but no one liked it so I just want everyone elses opinion because obviously mine suck.
and I’m already discouraged so I’ll just do what everyone tells me to do from now on…

i like writers block too… but on my lamborghini model they had a tennancy of not reading short posts and making bold headed comments. then proceeded to talk about how my picture doesnt look like my reference photo, too this day i wonder what reference photo they where talking about and they never elaborated…

they leave good advice but it takes a bit of filtering to understand personally

You have one of those models where no matter how you render it, it will still look strange. And it’s not your fault, it’s the car company’s fault. It’s like trying to model the lamborghini diablo, it will just never look good no matter what you do.
Your Lamborghini looks beautiful, make your final render and put it in finished artwork.

I made another attempt and tried to do sort of what everyone wanted… Not sure what I’m doing anymore…

Some different POVs With and Without the AO.

here is an example of a car paint render in a studio…I love kawasaki green:P but the color is your choice:) below is the scene setup. Hope it helps.

sorry only let me post 3 pics:P

It’s fine. I could try that really quick if you want.

thank you, i appreciate it. Your right, its one of those models that is just hard to light and render period. im sure if i used HDRi maps it would be easier but i was going for total realism so i modeled out the lamps and lamp cards.

It is actually one of my favorite models. its one of those so ugly its cute kindof things, like a pitbull.

Again. i love your model. citris / burnt orange are my 2 favorite “colors” on a car… so im loving the rims. and you definately picked one of the more interesting models they produced.

i enjoy watching this threads progress

Here is the light settings

in the end its your model and art…honestly I dont like to push on personal preference but if your rendering cars the definetly is a process and setup and I hate to see good modeling hurt by simple lighting and scene setup. You put a lot of work into the car so make it shine like a diamond:P

Happy Blending!

I liked the orange too. But someone else didn’t so I changed it.

Well… Here you go… And thanks…

Once again, with and without AO.

beautiful. idk why. i dont think its you, i think its… erm… cycles? i presume… that has some weird AO. it is very round. i dont know if you have control over it or if it is somthing that is just happening. it just feals very big to me. and like i said, i dont think its as much you as the engine. cycles is extreemly good but is working a lot of things out as we speak.

its kindof obvious but i felt i should point it out anyways just incase you decided you wanted to try and do something about it

It’s fine. But yeah, It is very round. I’m using falloff. I’ll turn it down a bit.

and thanks for the advice on my lamborghini. my camera is doing this weird clipping thing around the edges but ill post a pic tomorrow on my thread with how its coming. or atleast thats the plan

You’re welcome.

Mh your AO looks… I don’t know. It should be way darker right where the tires are touching the ground but it is just a big “circle” - dunno what this is, to big Radius? Might solve some problems.

You’re right. It should be darker. But I’m just doing what everyone told me to do. I’ll try and make it darker for you.

I figured out how to darken the shadows.

Oh, I didn’t realise at first that you were using BI. I think your render’s going good. But it definitely needs more improvement. Just for some help, why don’t you have a look at Mike Pan’s BMW Render. It looks amazing and it’s rendered in BI: http://mikepan.com/files/BMW3v2.blend. Try to get some help from it.
Cheers.

You don’t need to do what I’m proposing. Just ask yourself “are these shadows to light”, if the answer is yes, do something about it. And not just “do what everybody says”. There are Million ways of making a setting for this car and there is no “right” way of doing it.
I for example assumed you wanted photorealism, like the car shot in a studio. I admit - I haven’t read trough the whole thread and many others maybe also didn’t. So you should focus on your own “inner” image and get this image across to us, so we can help you create the picture you always wanted.

If we say something we say it because we know there is still room for improvment, we say it because we want to see that thing done. But the only way to actually get it done is if you’re saying “I want that and I don’t want that”. If you have a image in your mind there couldn’t be much wrong with that.
