Landing a 3D artistry job.

In order to get a job as a 3D artist is it necessary to learn character modeling? I am focused more on interiors and I’m about to start learning extior architectural modeling techniques to futher expand that area of my 3D work. But I am wondering if I should take a break from architectural modeling and learn character modeling to futher increase my chances of landing a job in todays market. Much thanks for the help in advance. Here is my CG/BlenderCookie gallery --> http://cgcookie.com/blender/profile/shadowrayn

There are plenty of environment and arch-viz gigs in the world. More than there are character modeling work, probably. Not everyone needs a person or an orc or whatever in their render. But even those who do need somewhere for that character to run around in.

That said, the more you can do, the more useful you will be to potential employers.
