Landmaster

This is the Landmaster from the 1977 film Damnation Alley.
I think I’m pretty much done with the modelling, so the next thing is to set up some sort of post apocalypse scene.
I’m not too sure about the guns and rocket launchers at the moment. They are as true to the original vehicle as I could get them to be, but I do wonder if some sort of weapons that have a more modern look to them might look better.

Any comments, ideas and thoughts on all aspects of the model are most welcome.

I just want to know one thing: The 3 wheel thing looks pretty cool, but to me it looks like they’re designed to rotate. You have a lot of wheel guards on them though, so I was wondering if they could actually rotate with the current geometry. If not, that’s something you might want to fix. It looks pretty good as it is though. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comment, Peaceful Whale, it’s much appreciated.

The three wheel sections are designed to rotate, so that if one of the wheels gets stuck against a rock or something similar then the whole section rolls over to free the stuck wheel.

I did check the model to see if there was enough room around the guards…and no there was not. The wheels were hitting the guards as they rolled over. I have changed the geometry and now the wheels can rotate freely without any snags. There’s not a lot of room between the tyres and guards, probably no more than about 10cm, but as the original vehicle didn’t have any suspension I guess it shouldn’t be a problem.

Cheers for pointing out the problem with the wheels, it was a thing which I had not seen.
