Hi!
I hope that someone could help.

As you can see there is the background (angular-map) shining through the
ground-plane. The reason why I need the groundplane to be transparent is
that the ground has to blend into the world-background in a flat camera-angle.
It would be very helpful to know a solution how to fade the ground into the angmap
background in a convincing way.

Just solve the problem for that shot. In that shot, the ground does not need to be transparent. And even if it does you can animate the alpha of the material, right…? Just solidify the ground plane as the camera angle changes. When it is flat, use your proven transparency and when the camera angle lifts animate the alpha more towards 1.0.
