Since the early childhood I remember how my dear mother collected figurines of laughing Budais. They were of every shape, size and color, whole house was filled with those funny little dudes made of wood, clay, ivory, some looked golden, some were chiseled in stone.
Making those were a lot of fun, like visiting a cozy memory of a childhood house that doesn’t exist anymore.
And yes, I couldn’t stop only on a single one, I had to do 5 versions just because I love it so much. I wanted to do something warm and handmade-like, somewhat crude and imperfect compared to machined or just hard surface stuff.
I hope I’ve achieved my goal!
