!Hola! Como estas?
I am new to the Blender Artists Forum, and I just joined today, although I have been using Blender for somewhere around 2 years or so and I’ve been using the engine for, oh, maybe, 1 year and 6 monthes.
I am making an RPG-style game, and I am thinking of using layers for seperate sections of an area (layer 1 for all inside sections of buildings, layer 2 for outside the main village, and so on, for example). Is there anyway to change the active layer in-game? I am not afraid of using Python, as I use it as an alternative to the Gameblocks instead. Also, I found that attaching a weapon to an armature doesn’t seem to work as the collision part of the weapon stays in its original position, not deforming with the armature. Thanks for any replies. (:D)
Hello
you should use “Scenes” not “Layers” for this kind of situation!
Then use the “Scene-Set scene” Actuator to change from scene 1 to scene 2 for ex.
Bye
Thanks OTO, but there are layers in the scene as well, and just how you can have 8 OpenGL lights per LAYER, I want to be able to cycle between them INGAME.
uhhmmm. . . Hello? If anyone’s looking, I am just trying to see if it is possible to switch LAYERS in-game. When I say layers, I mean different levels of visible objects, like how things must be on a HIDDEN LAYER to be added correctly in-game. So. . . Is there anyway to switch the visible layer in-game?
Hello again
you can hide/show objects with the “Visibility Actuator”…
And control light intensity with IPO curves.
Bye
Eheheheh. . . . I DON’T think you understand, OTO, but thanks. I mean how you can put down OBJECTS on LAYERS in the modeling areas of Blender, CAN YOU CHANGE THE ACTIVE LAYER IN-GAME? JUST LIKE YOU CAN CHANGE THE ACTIVE LAYER BY PUSHING ONE OF THE SIXTEEN (OR WHATEVER) BUTTONS IN BLENDER WHEN YOU WISH TO SWITCH ACTIVE (CURRENT) LAYER, OR HOW YOU CAN PRESS M-KEY TO MOVE OBJECTS FROM ONE LAYER TO ANOTHER, IS THERE A WAY TO SWITCH THE ACTIVE, OR CURRENT, VIEWED LAYER IN THE BLENDER GAME ENGINE?
Eh eh eh…NO?!
Hahahah. Thanks very much, OTO. Even though I can’t use layers, it helps to have someone answer your questions.
