Hello, I am new to Blender. May I ask, does Blender have layers like Maya?
Not in the same way that Maya does.
That would be one possible way to use Collections though.
You can configure the visibility and selectability of the collections with the buttons alongside them (yellow).
To see the full set of buttons, you can switch them on and off with the ‘Filter’ button (red).
The container isn’t something that has translation information. In that sense it’s very much like a display layer in Maya - you can’t parent a layer to an empty.
It’s not exactly the same as a Maya layer. You can put collections in other collections. but it’s more to do with scene organisation, than ‘3D space’ organisation.
You can parent the mesh objects that are in one collection to an object that is in another collection (that’s where you see the ‘ghost’ versions of them). They’d still follow the location of their parent in 3D space, but you can control the visibility and selectability of all the meshes with the buttons on the collection that contains them.
Understood, thank you Magpie.
