I wanted to use the new hair system, but right now it really isn’t very usable for anything other than realistic hair.
Fun fact: the Polish name for November is “Listopad”, which literally translates as “Leaf Fall”.

Well, for this one I just used my beautiful base mesh 
But most of the time I use the blockout method. Here’s a video of the method from a previous model I made:
