Letter L for 36 Days Of Type 2023

Another oldie of mine that I did for the 36 Days Of Type instagram art challenge back in 2023. But this time it is a bit different from others, and I will explain why below.

This time whole thing was done as a set of few modules that potentially could be rebuild in any other way to produce more letter space ships as a last resort option in case if I would not have much time on other ships or something would go wrong. I was aiming to make aesthetically something not too far away in to the future and looking like space technology we have today.

Here is a render of the disassembled separate parts that I used for this illustration:

Yeah, as You may see I am a lazy guy so I reused the cabin from the J ship and made id symmetrical for this set :upside_down_face:

Below is an example of a space station that was kit-bashed from the same peaces, this time not a letter but just an example of the way the set could be used:

This one is awesome. I really like how it is more diverse than the rest. As much As I like the rest with their sort of starfighter designs and star destroyer designs, I really like this. I love how it looks like a modern space station. While the rest look awesome, they look very sci-fi. This one feels a lot more real. this one just as a feel of “omg this could be real” instead of the “wow this is an epic idea” response. The satellite dish and the connection points really enhance the realism. I feel like this could be a legitimate design! I love the concept of that you could make a lot more out of the smaller components sort of like Legos. the same building blocks, unlimited possibility

Thank you very much for your kind words! Yeah, sometimes it is nice to make something different :slight_smile: and that dish you mentioned, I reuse it often in my designs, sane as many more assets, then I need to make something quick like these spaceships for art challenge on instagram reusing the parts and details is a good time saver. Although I think I need to spend some time on making some new dishes since this one is pretty popular and adding more divercity to the assets you work with is always a nice thing :sweat_smile:

Don’t be too hard on yourself lol. If something works than it works, right? I understand needing to do things quickly so reusing, a lot of the times in my animations I append 99% of the things seen, and yeah it would be cool to see you add more satellite dishes :slight_smile:
