Library Hall

A library scene for the blenderguru challenge

I like it! Hmmm… Maybe turn down the “Lens Distortion: Projection” effect in the compositor. The picture also seems a bit grainy. Maybe turn up the passes.

are you using reference images for this. The ladder should be on some sort of track, with wheels. Then it wouldn’t be able to go over the column though…

Watch his tutorial on the lantern and apply that effect with the oil lamps.

The lights from the ceiling look out of place, the left one seems distorted

Crank the passes way up, I can’t really comment on the textures without that, but they look a little plain in parts right now.

Overall a good scene though, would love to see a big button leather chair there so one could actually sit and read in that place.

put in some chair and playing around with the compositing

I’m assuming the books are all meshes. Must be a pain to render. No matter, this quite a nice piece. The only things I have to suggest is finish texturing. Also, the ladder probably wouldn’t be leaning on the books.

^Yes those books are all mesh and it is a pain to render, lol. Anyway, I need to ask you guys what is a good material for books, I just put them with diffuse and uv unwrap them with image of real books. this scene is render with cycle, too.

Book binding is an art in itself. A simple post would not contain all the information on the subject. I think you should just keep it simple. The diffuse shader is good enough for something at that distance. I wouldn’t change the books unless you add one in the foreground.

Okay, another little update: get the ladder longer so it is not leaning on the book and some more compositing
fixing the wood texture next…
