Lighthouse

After working on this for such a looong time… I had to just stop myself and call it finished:evilgrin:
I don’t know how this will look on your monitors, because on two of mine it looks totally different:eek:… but I can’t get them configured. Oh well. Enjoy anyway. (I know it’s not perfect, but as I said…I’ve been working on it way to long. Must… move… on… to new… project…)
(Edit: Replaced old image again)

/cry. You didn’t fix the water… looks like a wonderfuly lit lighthouse on a pond =( Everything else is quite nice.

Yeah I think it looks amazing but the water under the rocks could have faded darker. Otherwise it looks amazing. Love the trees and lighting and the overall feeling. Well done

Very sweet !
A liitle detail though: The wind blow quite strong on the hanging cloths but the sea is quiet as if it were a lake…
Nice mood !

SpindleRift: I know, I know, I’m sorry. I just couldn’t get it to look good… SIGH maybe I’ll try again tonight. You people never give up, do you :stuck_out_tongue:

Crititrozoz: Thanks for your reply

Gwentiv: Yes… I attribute that to the fact that those clothes are veeeeery thin…

looks like wool  kidding.

Just trying to challenge you to do better. However, I’m glad I’m not being challenged because I bet realistic waves might be a tough cookie . Never give up though. I’ll bet you get it.

Great image by the way. Worth a little bit more sweat.

One thing ? Ground meeting the water ! NOT RIGHT!

Yup, there should be a dark reflection, afterall water behaves like an imperfect mirror.

Also, the clothes on the washing line look rather large. I mean it is set a lot further behind the lighthouse isn’t it.

So no it is not quite finished.

Good work though, nice ambiance. Just slight shy of four stars from me.

Crititrozoz: Sorry… I don’t get it. lol
VorpalBlade: I know… (note the “:p” I posted)
I did render it last night… but it still doesn’t look quite right. Ah, well. I’ve got the whole summer:D
OneMan: sobs I know…
iamthwee: True… but that could be the camera. I’ll check the proportions in orthographic view.

Thanks everybody, I’ll try and fix that water:evilgrin:

Check out Cogfilms tutorials. He’s got waves down to a science.

Hi, I really like this one, how long has it taken? Did you make the sky in Blender?

Sorry to be another one going on about the water, but I just want to help, it is a really good picture but, like every one else there was something that bothered me about the water.

I don’t think it is the waves, as it is possible for it to be a calm sea I suppose… I think it is because there is not enough shadow being cast by the rock onto the water, the sun is right behind the rock and low.

I found these pictures for you:

I hope that helps

Orinoco: Thanks  (I already knew about that, but thanks anyway  )

Babracadabra: Thank you! I’m rendering it again with some waves, but for now I just darkened the water behind the rocks in photoshop:

It actually looks much better IMO:confused:
(Edit: No, I did not make the sky in blender. I did process the image there, but it’s a photo.)

No problem, I think it looks much better too

That was quick :stuck_out_tongue:
Yeah, actually this does look like a calm lake at sunset (there are lighthouses on lakes)
The next render may actually be worse than this, I fear:eek:
But we shall see.

Edit: Yes, it took 15 hours to render sobs and it looks kind of bad… I think I’ll stick with the calm lake.

Something simple to do would be to just make the clothes not blow around as much. That way it could seem really serene (even more so that is). Also if you added maybe just a couple of seaguls flying or just standing, then it would really seem like the sea.

It’s perfectly possible to have a sea as calm as that, i’m an avid deep-sea fisherman and i have been out several times in conditions like that.

Thanks for making me feel so relaxed.

Extra guy: Thanks for your reply! I really liked the idea of the clothes blowing around (plus I’m unable to do another 15 hour! render) so I think I’ll leave those how they are (the wind can be on-and-off, leaving the water calm). But seagulls are definitely a great idea! I’ll see what I can do about that…
(And thank you for your professional fisherman’s point of view:p)

EDIT: Added seagulls (post #1)

The seagulls are a good addition, I think you can call it finished now  I like it a lot.

Can this one go in the gallery?

Looks really nice! I think the water could be a bit rougher though.

Keep it up!
Cuby

it look awsome
