lighting up the 3D view

Sorry I am relatively new to Blender, to this site and to 3D modeling in general… So bare with me and be nice please xD…

I am also unsure if this is the correct place to put this question…

I don’t know what it is but my 3D view is really dark all the time… especially after adding a texture… I NEED full light to see my textures to make sure everything looks good and lines up right… but all i can do is drag the lamp around which is annoying and it doesn’t light up a whole lot… I want to know if there is a way to light up the entire grid?

I do not need to see shadows for this… I just need to be able to effectively look at seems …

here is what I see:

Add some more lamps or in the Material / Shading panel enable ‘Shadeless’

Add a white color light to the world will brighten up everything but I would use the texted material preview instead of rendered preview
