I have used 2.79 to import Lightwave 2015 formatted objects just fine…I am wondering if anyone has made an importer that works in 2.93?
I took over and updated the importer after 2.79 (it just broke on all the 2.80 update). It works on 2.93 and up to the alpha of 3.0
It only does lwo not lws, which was also the case for the original found on 2.79.
(to be fair the it was added long before 2.79 and was appearing to be flakey when used in 2.79)
Does it work with the newer 3.0 object format?
Thanks for your work.
LWO3 Support is not available yet, it is something I have looked at and done a major code rewrite to help start it, sadly my bucket of available time at the moment is limited.
However I am looking for interesting examples of LWO3 files that I can a) experiment with b) save publicly for future support.
What kind of examples are needed? Could possibly throw some things together from the current Lightwave version.
Maybe I am jumping the gun here. I have access to the newer version of lightwave and was able to build out some basic modela to get me started. What or where I imagine the “fun” will be is a complex model that was started in the new version, (not just and older model resaved) UV mapping, texturing all that stuff.
LW doesnt care about version…if you build a model in lw7, but save it from 2020, its a 2020 model…the only differences would be if you applied the new material types
I tried installing that file into blender 2.93.1 and it doesnt show up in add ons at all.
This has come up a few times, can you review this issue and see if it is similar to your issue?
Ok…thanks I got it…I was installing the whole thing…not just the add on…hehe.
I did notice on some lwo I tried, it seemed to be wanting an image…an image which is in no way associated with the object, but I was able to click the small cancel search button.
