I’m looking for an addon that lets me create logarithmic spirals with the “golden ratio” or just any sort of screw modifier for curves or meshes that lets me put in mathematical values to achieve something near the golden spiral.
I’d like to be able to model something like this seashell:
But I want it to be created mathematically so that I can extend the spiral in both directions just like with an array.
I haven’t yet dealt with any python scripting, so I would be happy if anyone could point me to an existing script or addon for Blender 2.6x. Thanks.
Thanks a lot! Your script works like a charm and it has more spiral functions than I knew existed, so there should be everything I need. I’ll message you, if I find anything to add.
Thanks guys for all the advice, but Rickys initial script does a perfect job for my needs. The seashell was only one example and I could achieve it with two simple log spirals and some quick filling-in by hand.
@Ricky: Of course, if you have some scripts finished for whatever kind of shells, I’d be interested to have a look at them; so if you’d like to share them online, go ahead, but don’t feel urged, since your other script was very good already.
So for the moment I have everything I need, but the Phimatrix did sound interesting, too.
