Well, as we made little progress in the last thread on this game, i’m making a new clean thread for the game’s progress. STRICTLY the game’s progress. i don’t mind a little conversation here and there but we need to stay focused on this.
As many of you well know, Loop is a sound, gravity, and possibly time-based puzzle game that is in an FPS format and is to have a similar feel to Portal.
I’ve already got a story-line for the game set and ready and I have a Demo level set up here.

I thank Excalliber for his previous work on some of these detail’s.
More or less. Story has changed up ever so slightly but it’ll still be an FPS puzzle game utilizing sound and gravity as the two main components. Will also be a shoot 'em up type of game as was the original intention.
Still inspired by Portal and Half-Life. So it should have a similar feel. @BPR: Animation will be normal. ragdolls are debateable.
This is supposed to be the introduction. You’ve just come out of Cryo and exit into the labs from here (in that pod right there).
Much more elaborate given the original make of the level.
Indeed this does look good (subscribed). Also, in terms of environment assets, I can easily double up what with I am doing to contribute here as well. I can release as CC-0 which also is compatible with commercial license so won’t trip you up that way. Just let me know if/when the time is right.
@mrn:
Not entirely sure what’s wrong there. may have deleted the file from dropbox or so. But either way, that’s an old demo. I wouldn’t advise using that one. I will probably finish up a test here that i will post for ll of you to play with till then.
@quandtum: whatever you feel is good. I’m open to help on this one.
Hehe, cool. Just for my awareness then if you can do a Google and just post a few links (simple and quick) to a few images that are “kind of close” to what you’re thinking for level “style” (quake, tron, etc.) when complete. The above screens help too but it’s hard for me to gauge the sense of “wear” on items still. That will help me to get a better pulse on things.
EDIT:
Okay. So generally, Loop is predominately inspired by two valve game series: Half-Life and Portal
The Tron-like grid thing was Excalaberr’s Design for the actual test chambers and I’m keeping the test chamber design here.
So, for the halibut.
First level, or the introductory phase (not the actual puzzles themselves), will pretty much be the cryolab entering into a laboratory hallway. The basics of the cryolab portion are done. At this point, I’ll have to decide how we’ll transition into the halls (if it’ll be in a separate blend or in the same blend) and get that dealt with. And then work on the halls itself (which I should be able to take care of the major elements in the hallways).
Okay. so I’ve quite basically started on an Autoturret for the game (while starting on the second portion of the introduction)
Here’s my progress so far:
